Hyderabad, April 3: The Telugu New Year, Khara Nama Samvatsara, will be "accommodating" bringing cheers to the common man and tensions to politicians. The year, which will be dominated by the Moon as the king, will facilitate bountiful harvest despite slightly delayed monsoons, improve economic status of people and roll out new faces in films, politics and business.
According to the customary annual panchangam or Ugadi almanac, the Khara Nama Samvatsara signifies "hard work" and economic benefits. The term, "Khara" stands for donkey, which is generally associated with labourious work. The animal is also known for its "accommodating" nature.
"The year ahead will be no body's property. Situations can turn to any one's advantage. The moon is the king of this year. He is positioned in Meena raasi (Pisces). As the moon stands for changeability, it cannot rule individually," senior astrologer Dr SV Nagnath said, adding that it's going to be a good year for science and technology.
In his panchangam, senior Siddhanti Pitchika Giri Raju from East Godavari district, pointed out that due to the lordship of the moon, the Telugu new year will give good results to all.
"Monsoons will be late but they will give good rainfall, increase crop yield. In September there is an indication for cyclone and earthquake in middle India. Per capita income, gold, silver and all metal prices, foreign exchange and employment rate will go up. India will emerge more stronger on the economic front due to increase in trade and exports," Giri Raju Siddhanti said.
Astrologers predicted political unrest at the Centre and in the State. There will be a sudden loss of a popular leader during August-September. Relations with Pakistan and China will be deteriorate even as the threat of terror attacks looms large over the country. ISRO will succeed in its missions.
"There may be a change of guard in State politics, while internal wrangling in political parties and government will continue. Real estate will continue to be in bad shape," he said.
In his agricultural predictions Dr Chilukuri Srinivasa Murthy predicted that there would be good rains and use of pesticides would come down. “There will be good production of long grain and fine grain paddy varieties. Chilli, sugarcane, tobacco and cotton crops too will yield bumper harvest. Farmers will have to be cautious about heavy rainfall and natural calamities,” he said.
Vedic scholar Kuppa Krishna Murty said since "Khara" has a numerical symbolism of 22, which is equal from both right and left, the new year stands as the symbol of "inspiration of equality, for all human beings".
Senior Siddhanti Simhambhatla Subba Rao in his panchangam pointed out that from October the rulers in the State will be at "stress" with a few persons losing their positions. There will be agitations and deterioration of law and order.
The Telugu almanac considers Jupiter as a minister and stands for intellectualism, idea creation, and back-end leadership. Comparatively, economical and social conditions will be balanced and stable for the common man. Social security will improve. It puts mercury as the army general or the defence minister, which means stability in business and industrial houses or sudden downfall in corporate sector. Multinational companies will
dominate and influence the corporate lifestyle.
As Venus will rule agriculture, the condition of farmers will improve, though rains will not fall on time.

Stars speak for Mayawati
2009
Syed Akbar
Hyderabad, March 26: Favourable star positions will make Mayawati, J Jayalalitaa and Nitish Kumar emerge "stronger" this general election. Stars, however do not seem to favour politicians like Lalu Prasad Yadav, M Karunanidhi and Mamata Benerjee. Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh will "continue to play an important role" in Uttar Pradesh politics.
Astrological predictions point out that Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati (Shravana 4 (moon) Capricorn, January 15, 1956) will get the "kind of results" she has been expecting for long. According to her horoscope, the position of moon in Makar Rasi with the combination of mercury and sun, indicates budha-aditya yoga. "This translates to power hunger, individual name, authoritative attitude and she will get the results she wants. These elections will give her the kind of results she is expecting in Uttar Pradesh. She will emerge successful," says astro-psychologist SV Nagnath.
Drawing up astrological charts and analysing them with individual personalities, Nagnath, who pioneers in astro-psychology, forecasts that Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi (Mrigashira-1(mars) Taurus June 3, 1924) will not bounce back on rivals. Karunanidhi's horoscope indicates less instability and loyalty. The social and political planet Saturn which is exalted in Tula rasi, the initiator and motivation-oriented planet Mars in Makar rasi will not help him bounce back on rivals to win the political battle. This is also due to Mercury position in Mesha rasi. The position of sun in vrishabha rasi makes him weak individually.
When his horoscope is compared with that of AIADMK leader Jayalalitaa, though he is equally strong, Karunanidhi will not be able to overtake Jayalalitaa this time. Jayalalithaa (Magha-1(ketu) Leo February 24, 1948) will win over rivals. The position of moon and mars in simha rasi indicates victory over rivals. This time it will be a surprising victory for her. She will become stronger in Tamil Nadu but when it comes to national politics she may not be able to influence much.
Amar Singh (Amar Singh Pushyami-1(Saturn) Cancer January 27, 1956), like Jayalalitaa will emerge as a powerful leader. But he will not attain any powerful authority. His horoscope says Amar Singh is very good at using the appropriate resources at the right place. He has a flexibility to associate and dissociate from any issue. The SP leader draws this quality from moon’s position in Karkataka rasi. "When it comes to luck and fortune his horoscope doesn’t indicate any strong vibes of him holding any authority individually. He, however, can turn out to be a good support for others," he said.
For former prime minister HD Deve Gowda (Purvabhadra-1(Jupiter) Aquarius May 18, 1933), the position of moon with rahu in kumba rasi indicates internal rivalry. The combination of planets in Deve Gowda’s horoscope makes the rival turn stronger. In the case of Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa (Anuradha-1(Saturn) Scorpio 27 February 1943), the horoscope points towards more luck than ability. His horoscope doesn't indicate any domination.
The position of sun and venus does not indicate any "good prospects" for Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad Yadav (Shatabhisha-3 (rahu) Aquarius June 11, 1947). He will not be in winning aspects this time.
His rival, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (Jyestha-1 (mercury/scorpio March 1, 1951) will get the much needed support from ketu. "Ketu from simha rasi brings him the spiritual power and sudden break and success," he forecasts.

Numerology favours Congress in Andhra Pradesh
2009
Syed Akbar
Hyderabad, March 22: Numbers speak in favour of the ruling Congress in
Andhra Pradesh this general elections.
According to numerologists, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy (YSR),
who is also the star campaigner for the Congress, has the magical number 5,
which keeps him in power for long.
"The numbers of Rajasekhar Reddy are synchronous with those of the State.
Moreover, the numbers of India, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and
those of Rajasekhar Reddy form a functional alliance. This results into a
collaboration of sorts, which will give benefits to the participants. The
numerological indications are that the Congress will form the government in
the State. The numbers also favour the party at the Centre," points out senior
astro-numerologist Chilukuri Srinivasa Murthy.
Numerologist Sharad Krushna Tripathi, patron of All-India Federation of
Astrologers' Societies, numbers are against the alliance between the Telugu
Desam and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Chandrababu Naidu's ruling
number (6) favours him to be in the Opposition. "The formation of grand
alliance has numerologically weakened the electoral prospects of the Telugu
Desam. The ruling number of the grand alliance (mahakutami) is 1, which in
numerological parlance is ego. There will be ego clashes in the alliance," he
forecasts.
Referring to the numerological governance of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar
Rao, V Radhakrishna Murthy of Sri Laxmi Ganapathi Astro Research
Foundation, points out that KCR is ruled by No. 17 which always
predisposes the owner towards "revolt and conspiring for selfish ends".
"It will be limping for recognition," he forecasts, drawing up a numerological
chart.
"The Telugu Desam will play a major role only if it goes alone. Stratagems
are shredding its inherent power to pieces," says CL Panchal, vice-president
of Astrologers' Federation.
Numerologist LVSS Ramesh is of the view that the Praja Rajyam has a
confused ideology because of the number 27 haunting its formation. Besides,
the date and the month numbers of the party formation together (26=8+8)
created "balarishta" (bad omen).

What stars have to say this general elections in India
2009
Syed Akbar
Hyderabad, March 16: The general elections 2009 will throw up a hung
Parliament, if astrological charts are to be believed.
Astrologers predict that no political party will secure absolute majority at the
hustings. The coalition government that's formed after the polls will not stand
long and will collapse due to infighting among the allies.
According to astrologers Dr SV Nagnath, Dr SM Chilakuri, Dr S Chaturvedi,
B Madan Lal and V Radha Krishna Murthy, the Congress will have a slight
edge over the BJP by emerging as the single largest party. BJP prime
ministerial candidate LK Advani will face a stiff Opposition in realing his
dream to lead the Central Cabinet.
Dr Nagnath, who specialises in psychoastrology, predicts that there will be a
hung Parliament. "Stars indicate that no political party will get absolute
majority and will have to depend on the support of others to form the
government. The star positions of the Congress are strong and the party will
surpass the BJP in terms of the number of LS seats it bags," he says.
The BJP, will however, improve its electoral performance in Uttar Pradesh,
though not to a considerable extent, says Dr Chilakuri pointing to the
astrological chart he has prepared. But he cautions the BJP against the
Mayawati factor.
"Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati will be more active than before. Her
stars tell us that she will rise to greater heights at the national level and may
emerge as a prime ministerial candidate", forecasts Madan Lal, who runs an
astrological research foundation.
Referring to the poll prospects of political parties down the Vindhyas,
Chaturvedi says the Congress will lead the LS tally in Andhra Pradesh. "The
BJP will retain its base in Karnataka while the DMK will have an edge in
Tamil Nadu".
Dr Nagnath's star charts predict that political parties that give importance to
religious issues will not do well in the Lok Sabha elections. He also predicts
that the Congress will do well in Orissa while it will improve its tally in
Gujarat.
According to Dr Radhakrishna Murthy, AICC chief Sonia Gandhi will
improve her political clout, though her son Rahul Gandhi will have to wait
for "some more time" to take the lead role. "The Congress will not have much
impact on the voters in Uttar Pradesh, while the Samajwadi Party will give a
tough fight to BSP. The astrological chart is in favour of the BSP," he said.
Dr Chilukuri predicts "better prospects" for the RJD in Bihar. "The charts of
Lalu Prasad Yadav speak in his favour," he adds.

Regional political parties to play a key role at national level, say astrologers
2009
Syed Akbar
Hyderabad: Regional political parties will play a key role at the
national level in the formation of the next Central government.
An analysis of astrological charts of various political parties and present
planetary positions reveal that at least four regional political parties will
call the shots at the national level. Present planetary positions show four
planets in the seventh house and this indicates that four or more political
parties will come together to form the next Union government. The
Bahujan Samaj Party led by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will
be one of these parties, but its support will be for a short period and will
come with strings attached.
"The impact of red planet mars will 'activate' power politics in some
States. Guru Chandala Yoga indicates that minorities and downtrodden
sections will be the deciding factor in this general election and a majority
of them will side with local political parties, rather than national parties
like the Congress or the BJP," predicts senior astrologer PS Sharma.
Mayawati's stars have been on top since October 22, 2007 and she is
strong astrologically. "Her party will get a good number of seats in the
Lok Sabha elections and her stars will continue to be favourable for her till
August 28, 2010," points out Acharya Kishore of All-India Federation of
Astrologers' Societies. On the other hand Sharad Pawar (Vrichikam,
Mesham, Barani 4th Padam) will not become the Prime Minister, though
he will hold a top position in the Central Cabinet. His Nationalist Congress
Party will romp home with fairly good number of seats in Maharashtra.
According to astro-psychologist Sirikonda V Nagnath, on September 10,
2009 the position of saturn will jump into Kanya raasi, causing
uncertainty and internal rivalry in political parties. Regional political
parties will vie for power and superiority.
"Till November, 2010 regional parties will call the shots but they will not
be stable and consistent in winning the hearts of people. Mayawati may
become the prime minister for a short period in the next five years. From
November 2010 onwards national parties will take over. Jupiter will not
give stability from makara raasi or from kumba raasi, unless Jupiter will
have a comfortable position in his own house Meena raasi. Saturn needs
his exultation positions from thula raasi. Things will settle down only after
two years," Nagnath points out.
The BSP may create hurdles for national parties to form the government,
though it may ultimately support them. The Samajwadi Party will support
the Central government and its support will remain consistent even after
November 28, 2010. The Rashtriya Janata Dal of Lalu Prasad Yadav will
remain successful in provocating and influencing social weakness due to
the position of Saturn in Meena raasi.
Shiva Sena of Bal Thackeray does not have any strong stand in this
general election and it cannot influence the State or the Central level
politics.
Nagnath predicts that the DMK in Tamil Nadu will remain strong and
stable but this general election will not favour the party in terms of good
results. The AIADMK will benefit from the elections but it will not have a
sound role at the Central level.

Women astrologers: The new entrants into the male fiefdom
By Syed Akbar
Hyderabad: A woman sits behind a table with a laptop and a bunch of books and old magazines. A large number of people line up with a set of queries. The woman patiently answers all questions and clarifies doubts ranging from employment to transfer and marriage to divorce.
No major corporate programme in the city is complete these days without an astrologer, mostly women, reading out horoscopes and tarot cards and interpreting individual's zodiacal signs. Big corporate houses are now hiring astrologers to clarify the astrological doubts of their employees as part of their latest efforts to keep them well-informed on what the future stores for them.
Already half a dozen women astrologers and tarot card readers are being regularly invited by corporate houses for their annual or important functions. At the end of a two or three-hour job, they are paid anything upward of Rs 4000. The astrological data is stored in the laptop and the entire prediction is out at the click of the mouse.
"Women astrologers is a new phenomenon in the State. All through the history we find only men astrologers. Now more and more women are taking to astrology, some as profession and many as a hobby. Corporate houses prefer women astrologers and tarot card readers for the simple reason that they do their job with great patience," says senior astrologer JUB Sastry, who has trained more than a dozen women astrologers so far.
With the demand for women astrologers going up in corporate houses and the big pay pack attached to it, more and more women are taking to astrology, tarot card reading and numerology. This is evident from the admissions in the astrology course offered by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. For the first time as many as 18 women have enrolled for the university course.
Say Kaveri, one of the most sought-after woman astrologer by corporate houses, "I do not find the job difficult. Yes, it is a male bastion. But women have been invading male bastions. So there's nothing wrong if we take to astrology, tarot card reading and numerology. All my clients are happy with the forecast and remedial measures I suggest".
Anuradha Sharada, another woman astrologer, points out that a woman astrologer can do her job better than a man astrologer. "I do tarot reading and numerology too. I have both men and women clients. The subject demands patience and who is at greater patience than a woman," Anuradha observes.
Keeping in view the demand from women, some of the astrological institutes in the city have fine-tuned their courses to suit women candidates. The Parasara Institute of Astrological Studies and Research has designed a three-month astrology course for women.

Vedic Astrology: Cure to sexual problems
By Syed Akbar
Hyderabad: Suffering from sexual debility or low sperm count. You need not consult an andrologist. Just wear a diamond of half carat or more on the ring finger of the right hand and your problem will get cured. And if you are a woman, the diamond should be set in white gold or platinum and worn in the ring finger of the left hand.
Welcome to the world of Vedic medical astrology and Vedic treatments. The Vedic medical astrology, which has its base in the ancient Indian religious texts of Vedas, is increasingly becoming popular in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and several other parts of the State. Vedic Astrology differs from western or tropical astrology mainly in that it uses the fixed zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the moving zodiac.
"Vedic medical astrology has cure for every health problem. The only thing is that the medical astrologer should be perfect in his knowledge of ancient scriptures. Every disease and every part of the human body is linked to some heavenly body like planet," says medical astrologer Ch Venkatasubbaiah.
He says venereal diseases and skin problems as also low sperm count are caused by the "bad placement" of Venus in one's birth chart or by an unfavourable transit aspecting one's Venus at birth. The cure for the problem lies in gemology, a part of medical astrology.
Vedic medical astrology is a branch of Vedic astrology which deals with the medical aspect of astrology. In this system of medicine, practised by saints and sages for thousands of years in ancient India, a Vedic medical astrologer draws a Vedic horoscope based on time, place and date of the birth of the "patient". The system believes that men and women suffer from different types of diseases which are exclusive to them, while a few are common among the two sexes.
"It works on the well-established system of bio-energy," he points out. According to Vedic medical astrology, health problems relating to brain and nervous system and emotional imbalances are a result of the bad placement of the moon in one's birth chart or by an unfavourable transit aspecting one's moon at birth. The cure is quite simple: wear a natural pearl of the size of a pea on the little finger of right hand (men) or left hand (women).
Says school teacher B Srinivas Rao, "my son used to neglect studies and used to spend time in playing. He also lacked concentration. I followed the prescription given by a medical astrologer. I just got my son a green emerald the size of a red bean in gold. He wore it on the little finger of the right hand and the results started showing up". In case of a girl, the green emerald should be worn in the left hand.
Argues Dr TM Rao of Gemini House of Astrology, "medical astrology is a diagnostic tool. A medical astrology chart can act as a road map, describing well the potential troubled areas in life. Various birth stars represents different parts of a human body. One can predict the future diseases in a person by going through the natal (birth) chart". Rao claims that even patients admitted to corporate hospitals have availed of the medical astrology for faster results.
Pointing out that the medical astrology is very effective since it is based on the Vedic knowledge, Rao points out to various astrological signs and the areas of the body they influence upon. They are: Aries (head), Tarus (lower jaw, throat, thyroid gland), Gemini (arms, lungs), Cancer (abdominal cavity, stomach), Leo (heart), Virgo (intestines, gall bladder), Libra (pancreas, spleen), Scorpio (reproductive organs), Sagittarius (hips, kidneys, liver, sciatic nerve and upper legs), Capricorn (skeletal structure, bones and knees), Aquarius (nervous system and lower legs), Pisces (feet, lymph glands, immune system).
Since planets like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto do not have a lordship over a house or a planetary period of their own, they are outside the purview of the Vedic medical astrology. Medical Astrology is a relatively unchartered and extremely specialized field by which a trained person, a doctor can look at the birth chart of a person when he or she is born and able to pin point the potential weakness or diseases or a potential weak organ of the body and forwarn the parents of the child.
According to the practitioners, it is a science and a healing art, which uses the information, derived from one's astrology chart at birth to ascertain that individual's state of disease and wellness. The natal chart accurately describes one's personality and one's potential internal conflicts, which can lead to imbalances.

Astrological importance of "Trio Seven"
2007
By Syed Akbar
Hyderabad, July 6: "Trio seven" or 07-07-07 is not an auspicious number as far as entering into wedlock is concerned.
Senior city Vastu-numerologist Rachaa Suresh argues that 07-07-07 may sound numerically interesting but numerologically it is devastating. "It is not the right occasion for marriages. But unfortunately many do not know this and have opted for wedding muhurat. The number is as fascinating as its devastating effect on the married life of people who enter into wedlock on this day," points out Suresh.
He told this correspondent that astrology and numerology do not agree on certain events which come once in a life, like marriage. While astrology has thithi and nakshatra, numerology believes more in numbers than in heavenly bodies.
"Astrology, the study of planets and stars, may not find anything wrong with 07-07-07. But numerology, which is based on the numbers game, does find a severe defect with the date. The date is fine as far as regular events like travel, inauguration of showrooms and general celebrations are concerned. And certainly not with marriage, which according to Indian customs is solemnised only once," he says.
Suresh also says that another "auspicious" date - August 26, 2007 - when a mass marriage muhurat is fixed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is also numerologically not good. Incidentally, the marriage of Nara Lokesh, son of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has been fixed for 26-08-2007.
The argument Suresh puts forward in support of his claim is that numerologically 8, 5, and 4 numbers are inauspicious for wedding muhurats. The numbers that totals up 8 are 8, 17 and 26 while 5, 14 and 23 totals up 5. Numbers 4, 13, 22 and 31 totals up 4. So days like 8, 17, 26, 5, 14, 23, 4, 13, 22 and 31 are inauspicious.
"In the case of 07-07-2007, the number adds up to 23 which in simple terms means 5 (2 plus 3). And 5 is inauspicious. In the case of 26-08-2007, the number 26 is inauspicious. Either the individual date, month or year or their sum total should not add up to 8, 5 or 4," Suresh argues.
He said he had been keeping track of marriages performed on such dates and most of them are on the rocks. The couple may live together but not enjoy the married life. He refers to the "marital trouble" of a Telugu film actor who was married on 17. He is in legal trouble now. He also cites the example of a relative of Cooperation Minister M Fareeduddin who is now in a marriage row. The relative was also married on 17.
Another numerologist Mudigonda Gopikrishna points out that the number 7 signifies philosophy and sainthood while marriage stands for love, procreation and progress. "Both these traits do not agree. In case of mass marriages, the planetary positions do not agree with individual birth charts. About 70,000 marriages are planned on 07-07-2007. But the stars of only a few people match with the date. Even astrologically the date has no significance," he said.

Saros series-146: Lunar eclipse may cast evil spell
2006
By Syed Akbar
Hyderabad, Oct 16: The first-ever partial lunar eclipse in the Saros series-146 will occur on Monday and the Sankaracharya of Sri Sarada Peetham predicts that it will cast an evil shadow on the earth causing natural disasters both within and outside the country.
"The lunar eclipse is occurring this time in the zodiacal sign of Aries. The sun will be in Libra and the Moon in Aries. This is Meena (Pisces) and Mesha (Aries) Chandra grahan (lunar eclipse). Kuja is held up in the Mesha Rasi and Sani (in fourth position) casts its impact on Kuja. Guru (Jupiter) has lost its divine power. It will have bad impact on human beings living far and wide," says Sri Sarada Peetham chief Sri Jagadguru Sankaracharya Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi. The eclipse begins at 5.04 pm and ends at 6.03 pm. and will be visible in India, Australia, Pacific and North America.
The Swamiji, who returned to the city on Sunday after 11 days of meditation and prayers in Mumbai during Dasara, told this correspondent that the evil impact would haunt people till December 11. He predicts that the lunar eclipse will cause destruction in north India and countries like Mexico, Afghanistan, England, France, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Syria, Pakistan and the USA. The calamity may over shadow people in the form of major natural disasters including big fire accidents.
The Sankaracharya had earlier predicted that the solar eclipse (October 2)
would kick off disasters like floods and earthquakes in various parts of the Indian sub-continent. "The only way to escape these disasters is to pray to the Almighty and invoke His Mercy and Blessings," he said.
Dr CVV Subramanyam, eminent astrologer and dean of Social and Other Studies, Telugu University, supports the forecast of the Swamiji saying that the lunar eclipse like the earlier solar eclipse would have its spell on "human and physical objects". This is the first time in five years that a solar and a lunar eclipse have occurred within a fortnight.
During this Aries-Lunar eclipse, Mars is at a critical degree, making this a significant day to watch for major events. "Mars in retrograde motion in Taurus is certainly putting a new spin on how we view the world. Since mars has entered Taurus, we have already experienced 20 hurricanes this year - the highest since 1933. There was also pandemic outbreak of Avian Flu and earthquakes," he points out.
Stating how this lunar eclipse will have its impact on one's personal and public life, astrologer JUB Sastry says the eclipse will bring focus on the tension between the self and significant relationships involving patterns. Tempers could easily flare or one may be exploiting or feel exploited by others on an emotional level.
"The sun in libra in conjunct with Jupiter which normally produces a time of productive energy. However, the Libra scale could tip either way with the opposing moon", he clarifies.
However, the lunar eclipse has a positive side too. Since it is connected to Pluto in a wedge pattern, its influence can help one to bounce back even after the worst of situations, helping one to make use of events and transforming through them, astrologers feel.
