COP 11 biodiversity: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy takes advantage of the Conference on Biodiversity to showcase his governance to thousands of people from across six continents

Hyderabad, Oct 8: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday took
advantage of the Conference on Biodiversity to showcase his governance
to thousands of people from across six continents.

The State government brought out a publication, “New Initiatives”,
highlighting the development and welfare measures taken up since
November 2010 and the roadmap ahead for the current financial year
2012-2013. “Our journey starts when we reach our destination,” the
Chief Minister said while introducing his government’s priorities that
include Rachabanda and Indiramma Baata. “They are runaway successes.
Not because we did it, but because the people for whom it was meant
actually benefited from it”.

Referring to the partnership summit 2012, the State government’s
publication said there were Rs 6,48,800 crore worth of investment
proposals which will create a job potential for 6,78,000 people.

“Flagship” programmes were also highlighted informing COP 11 delegates
about free power to 32 lakh farmers, 86 irrigation projects and Re 1 a
kg rice scheme for the poor.

The Chief Minister earlier told the delegates that the rich
biodiversity of the State is protected through several measures,
programmes and activities, which include biosphere reserves, national
parks and wildlife sanctuaries.

He also invited the biodiversity experts to experience the rich
culture, tradition, exotic and aromatic cuisine of Hyderabad.
“Hyderabad has a vibrant cosmopolitan culture, is considered the
scientific, management an educational hub of India. It is also known
as pearl city,” he said.
