Kadapa by-election: YS Jaganmohan Reddy promises 4 per cent political quota for Muslims

By Syed Akbar
Kadapa, May 3: YSR Congress candidate for Kadapa lok sabha seat YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday promised 4 per cent political reservation for Muslim. Addressing an election meeting at Mydukuru, native constituency of Health Minister and his Congress rival DN Ravindra Reddy, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that his father YS Rajashekar Reddy had provided 4 per cent quota for muslin in jobs and education.

“It’s now time for political reservation for Muslims. If YSR Congress party is elected power in the next assembly elections we will provide 4 per cent quota for Muslims in civic, local and legislative bodies,” he said.

Referring to his conditional offer to the BJP that if it agreed for 10 per cent quota for Muslim he would extend support to the party, Jagan Mohan Reddy said neither the BJP would give 10 per cent reservation nor he would support the BJP.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he had left the Congress only because he was humiliated by the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. “During my public meeting at Nallakunta in Kurnool district the site of YSR helicopter crash, I had promised to extend financial support to all those who died in shock following YSR death. To keep up my promise I took up ‘Odarpu Yatra’ but the congress leadership had opposed it,” he said.

Describing the by poll in Kadapa lok sabha seat as crucial he said it’s not a fight between two individuals – Sonia and Jagan - , but a fight between Kadapa and Delhi.
